2008 Construction Cost Changes - Stakeholder Review

Each year, the assessment year modifiers (AYMs) that are used in calculating property assessments for regulated industrial properties are calculated by the Assessment Services Branch of Alberta Municipal Affairs.  The AYMs reflect annual changes that have occurred in the costs of constructing property.

To determine the AYMs, the branch contracts the services of engineering firms to provide information on annual construction cost changes in the various industrial sectors.

As part of this process, the branch is asking for feedback from stakeholders on the construction cost changes that have been received from engineering firms, and on the AYMs that are being proposed for the 2008 assessment year (2009 tax year).  The branch will use the feedback in finalizing recommendations to the Minister for the 2008 AYMs.
