Municipal Financial Information Return & Sample Financial Statements 2008
2008 Municipal Financial Reporting
The Municipal Government Act requires that every Alberta municipality prepare an annual financial information return and annual audited financial statements. Both must be returned to Alberta Municipal Affairs by May 1 of each year.
The return(s) should be submitted electronically either via milenet or e-mail to lgs.update@gov.ab.ca. Alternatively, the return(s) can be saved to diskette or CD and mailed to the Ministry at:

Note: The signed and dated original return(s) and audited financial statements must be mailed to the above address.
Financial Information Return
The 2007 financial information return templates, including municipal and excluded functions (gas and electrical) and the accompanying manual are now available for downloading. The financial information return templates require Microsoft Excel Version 7 or newer to complete.

Annual Financial Statements
A set of sample financial statements (Sampleford), which includes a summary of recent Public Sector Accounting Board Recommendations, are also available to use as a reference in the preparation of the 2008 financial statements. They may also be downloaded here using the same process as indicated above.
